Saffron needs heat to release its flavor essence. Steep in hot water or broth before adding to dishes. This pre-soaking also allows for the vibrant color to disperse.
Crumble a pinch into stews, risotto, pælla, pilafs or pasta dishes. Enhance blander grains like rice, and cauliflower rice. Use in recipes with light meats, fish and vegetables. Infuse light desserts like custards and sponge cakes.
